11 friends and I will be pulling a firetruck in honor of Avie. Please help support curing kids cancers
This was written by Avie's mom....
Our lives were turned upside down in April of last year when we found out that our sweet, 14 month old baby girl was very sick. We had noticed some unusual symptoms that would not go away. After a series of tests at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, Avie was diagnosed with a very large, very rare and malignant brain tumor call Choroid Plexus Carcinoma. Avie began chemotherapy right away in order to shrink her tumor down. In September, she had an 8-hour brain surgery, and the tumor was successfully removed. Soon after, she went to MUSC for 2 rounds of high dose chemotherapy with a stem cell rescue in order to get rid of any remaining cancer cells. It was a grueling few months, but she came through beautifully. In February, we got the incredible news that her cancer was completely gone! Cancer will still be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future, but so far, Avie is one of the fortunate ones. We are eternally grateful for the countless oncology doctors and researchers who helped our child have a chance at life, and we must support their work in order to eliminate pediatric cancer for all children.
